The Press Operator role is responsible for the set up and operation of multi-color printing presses in accordance with the printing specifications and customer requirements/expectations.
Ensures that product is printed according to the customer’s specifications.
Reviews orders and verifies appropriate stocks are utilized as specified
Performs line clearance by following line clearance SOP.
Pulls specifications, verifies colors, ripped artwork revision, die line, stock, and special instructions.
Sets up machine; installs inks, correct stock, die line, and print alignment according to special instructions.
Match or detect differences between colors, including shades of color and brightness.
Completes in-process inspections; follows work instructions and control plan.
Closes out job by completing paperwork and placing with product.
Performs technical adjustments and maintenance of press.
Follows 6S guidelines assigned to work area and surrounding areas – this will be a clean room environment.
Conduct tests and inspections to evaluate quality and performance.
Performing routine printing procedures, most of which require specific skills and aptitudes.
Quality inspections, adherence to procedure, visual discrimination, print quality analysis and judgment.
Operator recognizing when routine adjustments are necessary, catching errors at the earliest possible stage to minimize production reworks. Request help from your TRP/Supervisor in trouble-shooting, planning, and direction of jobs.
May be required to perform other related duties as required and/or assigned.
Nature and Scope:
This position interacts with varying levels of internal and external personnel requiring the ability to clearly communicate both verbally and written. Effectiveness in this role requires an in-depth knowledge of safety regulations including the safe use of chemicals related of the printing process; record keeping techniques; standard software application. Exercises judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
This position requires a minimum 3 - 5 years of relevant experience in press operation in a manufacturing environment or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Works in a manufacturing environment and will be required to wear hearing, foot, and/or other personal protective equipment while performing duties in a manufacturing setting. May, on a continuous basis, stand/walk for up to 12 hours per shift as well as stoop and kneel frequently. May handle, feel and reach for items in and around press area, also write or use a keyboard to communicate through written means. Some walking and lifting and/or move up to 40 lbs. may be required. Vision: close vision, distance and color vision to distinguish color variations, peripheral and depth perception as well as the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually medium to loud. Must be flexible to work varying schedules and hours as needed. Must be able to work overtime as required by workload and customer mandated deadlines
Requires a high school diploma or general education degree (GED), Technical degree in printing preferred.
